West View Project has almost 30 years of experience in delivering high quality activities and support for Children and Young People.
Based in West View in the North of Hartlepool our centre is well known, well respected and well used by the people of North Hartlepool. The centre has developed from very humble roots as a small youth club ran by local residents to become one of the largest providers of young peoples support work in Hartlepool, we are also one of the largest Adventure Education and Activity providers in the North East and have a permanent watersports base at Hartlepool Marina. The centre is unique in the town in providing adventurous activity to young people regardless of background or previous experience, and has successfully helped young people find a career they didn’t know existed through offering work experience and apprentice placements.
Our Children and Young peoples support projects have grown from our youth clubs and recognition of the need to provide more for Children and Young people that live in deprived areas and have low aspirations. This is the core of the work at West View and young people have a big say in the running of the projects, not only do we employ a full time participation worker supporting young people to have their views considered on a local and national level but they also have a voice in the management committee backed up by their own shadow board.
Provision for young people at West View is wide ranging from drop in youth club sessions open at various times to 8-16 year olds, to intensive support for young people having difficulty in schools. We also have a proven track record in engaging NEET young people in positive activity, then helping them move to positive destinations and also in supporting year 11 students in the difficult transition to further education or employment.
